I hold two PhDs, one in biotechnology and bioinformatics from the University of Hyderabad, India, on the cell biology of Helicobacter pylori, the bacterium behind most stomach ulcers and gastric infections, and one from Harbin Medical University, China, on the molecular mechanisms behind lung cancer cell suppression. My postdoctoral research at Jiangsu University carried that work further into how compatible solutes act on skin cancer cells. That scientific foundation is what shaped the pharmaceutical businesses I run today: medical supply and API sourcing, Certificate of Analysis compliance technology, and pharmaceutical distribution into Yemen, connecting China-based manufacturing with buyers across the Middle East and the UK.
About Me
I'm a biomedical scientist and entrepreneur based in Nanjing, China, holding two PhDs, a Master's degree, and postdoctoral research experience, alongside active leadership across several pharmaceutical ventures.
My first PhD, in biotechnology and bioinformatics at the University of Hyderabad, India (2015 to 2018, under Prof. Niyaz Ahmed), examined how Helicobacter pylori uses cholesterol glucosylation to protect its cell wall, resist antibiotics, and regulate the host's Mincle receptor response, work published in mBio and Helicobacter.
My second PhD, at Harbin Medical University, China (2018 to 2020, under Prof. Zhang Fengmin), focused on how a non-coding RNA from Mycobacterium suppresses lung cancer cell proliferation through hypomethylation of the H2A histone family. That shift from infectious disease microbiology into cancer epigenetics carried directly into my postdoctoral work.
From 2021 to 2023, I was a postdoctoral researcher at Jiangsu University, investigating how compatible solutes such as ectoine act on skin cancer cells as a route toward anti-aging and cancer-preventive medicine, alongside a second project on antibiotic resistance and virulence in microbes from oil-contaminated soil. I also mentored master's and PhD students throughout. Across this doctoral and postdoctoral work, my publications sit in Q1 journals with close to 1,000 citations.
Before the PhDs, I worked as a licensed medical laboratory technician and part-time lecturer in Yemen's public health system, which is where the interest in translational medicine started. My goal has been to link that scientific knowledge with entrepreneurship: I now lead sourcing and supply for medical products and pharmaceutical raw materials, I'm building compliance software that checks Certificates of Analysis against USP standards, and I run a pharmaceutical distribution business serving the Yemen market.
I'm fluent in Arabic (native), English (C2), Chinese (B2), and Urdu (B2–C1), which lets me work directly with manufacturers, regulators, and buyers across these markets without relying on intermediaries.
